Two modern, purpose-built primary schools
The completed Waverley development will incorporate two purpose-built primary schools for children living in the newly-created community. Primary school pupils moving into the area during the early phases of development will be accommodated in the nearby Catcliffe Junior and Infant school, which has surplus capacity.
Population forecasts
The decision to create two new primary schools at Waverley is based upon accepted planning formulas, which include estimated numbers of pupils per year group per planned house, as well as the predicted birth figures for the next 20 to 30 years. It is deemed that there is sufficient secondary school provision within the Rotherham borough.
Full educational facilities
One new primary school will be built in the north of the development between the Catcliffe Gate and transport interchange residential areas. The other will be built in the south of Waverley, between Orgreave Square and Central Grid North.
The school facilities will be complemented by playing fields, children’s play areas and recreation areas within Highwall Park and dotted throughout the town.
